“Odorata ginestra/ contenta dei deserti”

Now that the weather has righted itself, nature seems to have gone into overdrive. The ginestra is in bloom, and there are rowdy splashes of yellow wherever you look. This beautiful shrub, with bright yellow flowers that smell of honey and Sicilian white wines, is everywhere in the woods on the lower slopes of Montalcino. Cytisus scoparius or common broom, related to Scottish gorse and is making the countryside especially beautiful this week.
