Sfarfallamento

The vine-leaves started unfurling today at Le Due Porte, our highest vineyard. This phase is known in Montalcino as sfarfallamento. This beautiful verb comes from the Italian for butterfly (farfalla) since the new leaves look like just like butterflies perching on the vine.
