Brunello terroir in action: veraison 2012 in Montalcino

Our three vineyards are separated by a total of 15 km (9 miles) and have different elevation, soil composition and exposition.Same day, same clone of Sangiovese... just look at the diffference in maturation! I have written about this before but, year after year, this practical example of terroir always astounds me.Our fruit at high altitude, north-west facing Due Porte have the first blush of veraison on the odd grape here and there whereas our lowest vineyard has completely purple bunches.
